As far as I'm concerned, a successful Christmastime is one spent mostly in pyjamas. Staying in, eating, watching films and opening presents–who needs to actually get dressed to do any of those things? So if you're like me and enjoy taking the opportunity to be a bit of a couch potato for those two weeks between Christmas and New Year's, some lovely, comfy PJs are an essential tool for the professional lounger. While some are keen to be in festive-themed pyjamas over Christmas, I prefer to invest in those that can be worn year-round, not just gathering dust at the back of the wardrobe for the other 11 months of the year.
If you have a house that errs on the colder side during winter, opt for brushed cotton, flannel, or at the very luxe end of the spectrum, cashmere. Otherwise, I find that a long-sleeved cotton set is the most versatile, able to be worn in spring and autumn as well as winter. Pyjamas are also a classic Christmas gift, and with good reason–they are a practical present, and a luxurious or designer set may not be something one would buy for themselves, but which will always be appreciated.
