The latest Omaze London house draw has just been announced and it's in eastLondon, this time with a house in the leafy enclave of Victoria Park village. This is the first time Omaze has chosen this location and that's not the only novel thing about their latest prize house. Usually, the Omaze houses – desirable as they are – all fit a fairly bland mold. They are modern, very neutral and designed to please anyone. That is mostly true of the London draw this time, however the house is the first that Omaze has offered to have a modern design when it comes to the architecture.
This house is not your usual Victorian terrace – far from it. Instead, it offers rooms of lofty proportions centred around an atrium courtyard on the lower ground floor (where you'll also find the bar, snug, gym and sauna), and a void on the upper floors to accommodate this architectural element. What this means is a house flooded with light from the central well and lots of glass, bringing that contemporary feel. The living room is double height too, with a terrace garden outside so it really is a house that maximises light and nature in every way possible.
Valued at £5 million (with an estimated rental value of £12,000 a month), this is Omaze's biggest prize yet and its desirable location only ups the ante. Victoria Park village is a sought-after area for those wanting the buzz of east London but also a more bucolic life. There are plenty of green spaces in the area, the benefit of the canal running through the park and a lovely little enclave of shops and cafés to choose from, all in striking distance of the rest of London.
As for the house, alongside the impressive amenities on the lower ground floor, there are four bedrooms. The master is on the top floor with wraparound windows looking down into the courtyard, an ensuite bathroom and plenty of eaves storage too. In fact, all four bedrooms have their own bathroom, with a further two in the living spaces. There's also the benefit of a study and an utility room.
As with all Omaze houses, the interior furnishings come with the prize and are designed to be inoffensively stylish, giving whoever wins this £5 million London house the chance to add their own stamp. All entries go to charity and for this draw, proceeds go to London's Air Ambulance Charity.
