Good news: your favourite freaky family is back with a vengeance. The much-loved Netflix drama Wednesday returns after almost three years in not one but two parts, with the first four episodes coming to our screens on August 6 and the second four on September 3. After season 1 became the most popular show on Netflix, we can expect great – and seriously spooky – things.

When and where can we watch Wednesday season 2?

Season 2 part 1 is released today (August 6) at 8am UK time. Don’t binge too quickly, though, as season 2 part 2 doesn’t land until September 3, so you will have to wait another month before you can watch the final four episodes and find out how everything works out. But fear not, it has been confirmed that Wednesday will return for a third season so there is even more to look forward to.

Who will be starring in Wednesday season 2?

Jenna Ortega will be back in the titular role of Wednesday Addams, bringing her signature deadpan delivery and sharp wit (she is also taking on the new role of executive producer). Jenna will be reunited with her nuclear family from season 1: Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams and Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams, not forgetting Victor Dorobantu as Thing. Once again walking the gothic halls of Nevermore Academy alongside Jenna/Wednesday are Emma Myers as Enid Sinclair, Moosa Mostafa as Eugene Ottinger, Georgie Farmer as Ajax Petropolus and Joy Sunday as Bianca Barclay. Among the other returning cast members are Hunter Doohan as ‘normie’ Tyler Galpin, Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester and Jamie McShane as Sheriff Donovan Galpin.

There are plenty of new (yet familiar) faces to look out for, too, including Noah B Taylor as Bruno (Enid's new love interest), Billie Piper as Nevermore head of music Isadora Capri and Haley Joel Osment as the lethal Kansas City Scalper. We’re particularly excited to see Joanna Lumley playing Wednesday’s maternal grandmother Hester Frump, as well as Lady Gaga making a cameo as legendary Nevermore teacher Rosaline Rotwood.

What is the plot of Wednesday season 2?

Following the dramatic ending of season 1, with the discovery that Tyler was in fact the murderous Hyde, season 2 will begin with the kidnap of Wednesday (by the aforementioned Kansas City Scalper). As she returns to Nevermore Academy, she will have to use her psychic abilities to solve this new supernatural mystery and save her best friend from a deadly prophecy. The makers have warned that nothing is as it seems this season, so expect plenty of twists and turns, cliff-hangers and startling surprises.
