The best Bonfire Night celebrations and firework displays for 2025

From all-singing, all-dancing London events to captivating ancient rituals, these are our favourite places to mark Bonfire Night

Blackheath residents are rejoicing at the return of their local firework display following a six-year hiatus. It promises to be bigger and better than ever, with a huge aerial display, DJs and bands, interactive games, fairgrounds, a food village and even craft beer – there really is something for everyone. Created by Fuse Fireworks, the firework display will begin at 8pm, but you can arrive from 5pm to enjoy all the other entertainment on offer.

Lewes, East Sussex

Heralded as the ‘bonfire capital of the world’, the town of Lewes in East Sussex welcomes crowds of spectators for its storied November 5th celebrations. However, event organisers are now keen to stress that it is an event for local residents only, as the streets are narrow and flaming torches and firecrackers can be incredibly dangerous when large crowds gather – though it will be live streamed for out-of-towners. The highlight is the processional march through the market town by its six active bonfire societies, each in traditional costume and bearing giant effigies of political figures that are then burned at their separate bonfires located around the town. The identity of the effigies are kept top secret until the event, but past examples include Donald Trump, Nigel Farage and Boris Johnson, alongside Guy Fawkes himself.

Polperro, Cornwall

A picture-perfect fishing village on Cornwall’s east coast, Polperro is renowned for its stunning coastal firework display. Fireworks are set off from Peak Rock, their reflection flittering on the water below as visitors watch from the harbour. It is a much-loved local tradition and a magiical way to spend an autumn evening if you happen to be in or around Cornwall. It’s free and unticketed so you don’t need to worry if you’ve not planned in advance.

Chatsworth, Derbyshire

If you’re within striking distance of the Peak District, you won’t want to miss the Chatsworth bonfire and fireworks this weekend – Saturday’s event sold out fast, but there is still a chance to secure your ticket for tonight. There could be no finer setting for a blazing bonfire and two spectacular firework displays than the gardens of Chatsworth house (if you’re attending with small children, you might like to go for the earlier, gentler display). The event will also include other exciting entertainment, including children’s entertainers, cyr wheel performers, fire jugglers, a giant puppets, and live music from LED drummers and a saxophonist. There’s also the option to book a delicious pre-bonfire dinner, but spaces are very limited, so you might have to plan ahead for 2026!

Llandudno, north Wales

Already one of the most beautiful places in Wales, Llandudno will be lit up by a wonderful firework display on November 7 (with November 8 as a back-up date in case if adverse weather). It takes place on North Shore Beach and is considered one of the best displays in North Wales, attracting thousands of residents and visitors alike. Though it is unticketed, there will be collections on the night to help ensure the future of the event. Organisers will be keeping an eye on the tides to make sure everything can be set up safely and fun can be had by all.

Kenilworth Castle, Warwickshire

Kenilworth Castle in Warwickshire serves as a spectacular backdrop for this firework display. Organised by the Round Table, the town’s largest firework display will be accompanied by food stalls and entertainment to keep the whole family happy. It is a truly wonderful way to experience this historic landmark. Better still, all the profits raised from the event will used to support local charities, worthy causes and community projects.
