1. Venice

Venice is the fire behind everything I do. The water, the reflections, the light and the views are endlessly inspiring. The city opens your heart, but if you stay here too long without leaving, it can become a cage.

2. Maps

When I was 17, my father gave me a map of Venice to congratulate me for doing well at school. I've been collecting maps of the city ever since. I love that they are both technical and beautiful.

3. Andrea Palladio

The proportions of Andrea Palladio's buildings are incomparable. To me, an empty Palladian room is complete perfection.

4. Linea d'Acqua

There is a wonderful bookshop in Venice called Linea d'Acqua, which I challenge anyone to visit and leave empty-handed.

5. The Gritti Palace Hotel

One of my favourite places on earth is The Gritti Palace Hotel in Venice. I love that it is grounded in history and yet it is not a museum. The Peggy Guggenheim suite has the most astounding views and is filled with amazing art.

6. Terracotta Globe

My most treasured possession is a Terracotta Globe by Gio Ponti. It is so important to live with objects and not to keep them out of reach behind glass.

7. Gio Ponti

Gio Ponti was a genius. He was a master of Italian architecture and design. He designed some textiles with my grandfather in 1934 which are timeless.

8. My Father

My father Alessandro Favaretto Rubelli is my hero. Rubelli has been a family company for five generations and he has been such an inspiration. He is 85 years old and still comes to work everyday.
