It’s official: the countdown to Christmas has begun. Though it is always bittersweet to bid the summer farewell, the start of autumn always brings a certain sense of anticipation. If, like us, you always like to start festive preparations early, you will not want to miss the return of the Spirit of Christmas Fair to Olympia London from November 3 to 9. As London’s largest winter shopping event, it is the perfect place to kick off the festive season and enjoy a day out with your friends and family.
The much-loved fair is surely one of the most joyful – and useful –events on anyone’s Christmas checklist. Struggling for present inspiration this year? Never fear. Here you will find more than 600 stylish independent brands showcasing their wares across two halls at Olympia London. From women and men’s fashion and jewellery to toys, Christmas decorations and artisan food and drink, you will be sure find the perfect thoughtful gifts for everyone on your list – even those who usually prove tricky.
We’re particularly taken by the bee-related brands exhibiting this year, from spirits infused with Wiltshire honey by Beeble to Beevive’s bee revival and bee hotel kits. We will also be making a beeline for our favourite homeware brands such as Addison Ross, Bloomsbury Revisited and British Colour Standard – and will doubtless come across lots of new names along the way. There will be even more exciting discoveries to make this year thanks to the launch of Spirit Rising Stars, a dedicated section of the fair for up-and-coming brands making their debut.

When you need a break from shopping, head to the Spirit Restaurant for chef Kate Austen’s delicious lunch dishes (she’s a BBC Great British Menu finalist so you can expect great things), the Grand Hall Gallery for a traditional afternoon tea, or the Louis Roederer Champagne bar for the finest cuvées accompanied by live music.
There will be also be a programme of events taking place throughout the week to provide extra inspiration and spark interesting conversations. Highlights include a talk from Amanda Owen, The Yorkshire Shepherdess, a tablescaping workshop with experts Dress for Dinner, a live cooking demo from Clodagh McKenna, and a conversation with House & Garden’s own garden editor Clare Foster. Plus, tickets to the fair include complimentary access to The Luxury Travel Fair next door in the National Hall.
