Want to be a neighbour of Clarkson's Farm? A Cotswold house just down the road is now on the market
As is well documented in the wildly successful Amazon Prime show which first hit our screens in 2021, Jeremy Clarkson, famed for his love of driving, hatred of manual labor and his mysterious fall-out with the BBC, is now a farmer.
The TV show which, admittedly, provided some laughs during some of Covid's most miserable moments, follows Jeremy as he tries and (often) fails to conquer the very temperamental agricultural industry. We watched as he attempted to plant crops (they were quickly killed by drought or infestations of bugs), shear sheep (he was kicked by one of them), and birth lambs (adorable).
His neighbours in the sleepy town of Chipping Norton made no secret of the fact that they found the surge in visitors to the area intolerable. When Jeremy opened a farm shop (which mostly sold potatoes - the only thing he had successfully grown), there was outrage about the increased traffic in the area. An attempt to add a restaurant to the farm's offering was quickly squashed by the locals.
It comes as little surprise, therefore, to see that a farm just down the road from Jeremy's is now for sale. Built in 1954, Foxglove Farm in the village of Chadlington, is perfect for anyone who dreams of living in the idyllic Cotswolds landscape. On the market for £3,850,000, the property includes the five bedroom main house, a three bedroom cottage, two stables and a large garage. The house is also surrounded by orchards, paddock grazing land and tree plantations, bringing the total size of the property up to over 9 acres.
The main house boasts a well finished interior - there's a bright and airy kitchen, a semi-open plan living/dining area, complete with stone floor and wooden beams, a dreamy little utility room, and three of the five bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms.
The local area is home to the very chicest of Cotswold establishments, namely Daylesford Farm and Soho Farmhouse, both 15 minutes drive away. Charlbury train station is just down the road, and has a regular service of direct trains to London, making this town a favourite among commuters.
Whether a Clarkson fan or not, it's a house which could fulfil anyone's dream of country living. Not to mention, you'll never be short of potatoes; ever heard of ‘Diddly Squat Farm Shop’?
The house is listed with Strutt & Parker, Oxford.
