Sanderson wallpaper also features in a tiny bathroom on the top floor. A strawberry print that, combined with a rattan mirror, is “a bit like a picnic I suppose.” The two bedrooms, both painted varying shades of duck-egg blue, maintain the same characterful details as the spaces downstairs. In Matilda and her husband’s room, twelve of her botanical prints hang in grid formation above a French rattan bed from Oka. An old fashioned lace draped window bathes the space in a diffuse light. In the spare bedroom, Matilda removed the panels from the built-in wardrobe doors and stapled cane to the back of them, while floral Guy Goodfellow blinds and antique stools for bedside tables contribute to the eclectic country look. In the ensuite bathroom, zellige-style glossy green tiles from Topps Tiles decorate the shower, making a statement against pink walls.

A large rooftop terrace is Matilda’s oasis, transformed with the help of planting duo Willz & Tillz. Vintage tin posters and blue-painted brick add colour, while ‘an abundance of plants make it feel very wild, with tall rubina and wild grasses planted in old water troughs giving quite a bit of privacy,’ she says. Peer over the top of them and there are views as far as Wembley to the west and the Oxo Tower to the east - the only hint of city life in this ultra-pretty home.

Following her first pop-up last year, Matilda Goad is setting up shop again in Notting Hill. It promises to be an inspiring affair. As well as Matilda’s now-cult scallop lampshade, she will be selling her pretty tableware designs and new rattan lighting, a collaboration with Edit58. Look out for Matilda's lovely new Christmas crackers, created in collaboration with the Tart food duo, which contain a recipe and a spice mix for you to make the most of Christmas leftovers with.
