About

To create something truly original, you must first fully understand the past. At Catchpole & Rye, we pride ourselves on our commitment to British Manufacturing, making exceptional products for those who appreciate superior quality. Our mission is to create beautiful and unique pieces of bathroom ware that will stand the test of time.

Like so many businesses, the birth of Catchpole & Rye came about by accident. A cottage Founders, Tony his wife, Elaine, purchased in 1990 featured an old claw foot tub. The restoration of this bathtub led Tony on a merry journey through the salvage yards of Kent and thus ensued a passion for antique sanitary ware and its manufacture. He quickly realised there was a forgotten heritage within Britain and set about understanding the origin of these plumbing products and how they were made.

Catchpole & Rye has been in business for over 30 years, evolving and expanding into what it is today. In 1999 Tony and Elaine bought what was a run-down Dairy farm in Kent with a vision to turn it into the epicentre and manufacturing base for the business they were just starting. From what was old cattle sheds and agricultural outhouses, today stands a collection of fully renovated buildings housing Workshops, Engineering, Electroplating, the Polishing Shop, Offices, and expansive Showrooms.

It is because of having everything from the design studio to the foundry based at our headquarters in rural Kent that we can design and manufacture our own products - something few bathroom brands can claim. This in-house capability means we can respond to our customer’s individual needs, specialising in creative solutions to help achieve a genuinely bespoke service. In fact, many of our favourite pieces were created this way. It’s British manufacturing at its very best, and it’s what makes us unique, ensuring customers receive the excellent quality of service and product they deserve.
