About

Emily Day Interiors is built on the ethos that spaces should feel as good as they look. The studio creates interiors that balance creativity with practicality, ensuring beauty never comes at the expense of comfort or function. Every project is approached with care, tailoring the design to reflect the personality, lifestyle, and aspirations of each client.

Founder Emily Dreelan grew up immersed in the world of design. With a father who was a furniture designer, her childhood was filled with textiles, swatches, and the craftsmanship of upholsterers at work. This early exposure sparked a lifelong passion for interiors and a particular love of patterns, colours, and textures that continues to shape her aesthetic today.

Emily has worked in the design industry since leaving school, honing her skills and refining her craft across a wide range of projects. In 2024, after two decades of experience working for others, she took the exciting step of opening her own studio. Her practice reflects both her professional expertise and her personal design philosophy: that interiors should be timeless, authentic, and deeply personal.

Her aesthetic combines classic elegance with modern sensibility. She is drawn to layered materials, tactile finishes, and balanced colour palettes that make a home feel both distinctive and welcoming. Every scheme is bespoke, never formulaic, and centred around craftsmanship and detail.

As an SBID-registered interior designer and an internationally certified colour expert, Emily brings both technical knowledge and creative intuition to her work. She believes that interiors succeed when they feel authentic to the people who live in them, and she works closely with clients to ensure every project tells their story while standing the test of time

How do you define your signature style?

"The signature style of Emily Day Interiors is defined by a love of colour, pattern, and texture, applied with balance and sensitivity. Emily creates layered, timeless interiors that blend high-quality finishes with a mix of old and new, always celebrating original architectural features to give each space character.

Designs are a true collaboration with clients, reflecting their lifestyle and aspirations, while being elevated by Emily’s own flair. She combines bold elements—through textiles, colour palettes, and bespoke details—with elegant restraint, resulting in spaces that are warm, welcoming, and highly personal.

The outcome is sophisticated yet approachable interiors, rich in detail, thoughtful in composition, and designed to stand the test of time, telling the unique story of those who inhabit them"

What is your design ethos? What values are important to you in your work?

"The ethos of Emily Day Interiors is to create spaces that are functional, beautiful, and deeply personal. Emily blends colour, pattern, and texture with high-quality finishes, celebrating original features while balancing old and new. She works closely with clients, injecting her own creative flair to craft interiors that are timeless, layered, and welcoming—spaces that truly reflect the people who live in them,"

In your opinion, what makes a design timeless?

“For Emily Day Interiors, timeless design is rooted in individuality. No two clients are alike, so each project responds to their unique needs, lifestyle, and aspirations. Timeless interiors avoid “fast fashion” and short-lived trends, focusing instead on quality, craftsmanship, and thoughtful detail. By blending classic elements with personal touches, Emily ensures that each design remains relevant and beautiful over time—reflecting both the client’s personality and the home’s character—because, ultimately, timelessness is subjective and defined by those who live within the space.”

How do you stay inspired and keep evolving your ideas?

"Emily Day Interiors stays inspired through a combination of curiosity, exploration, and hands-on research. Emily works closely with trusted suppliers to discover new releases, materials, and finishes, while keeping a keen eye on emerging colour trends. She consciously avoids “fast fashion” in design, prioritising timeless quality over fleeting fads. Visiting trade shows and industry events provides fresh ideas and insight into innovation, while travel offers a continual source of inspiration—from textures and patterns to light, architecture, and local craftsmanship. By blending these influences, Emily ensures each project feels both contemporary and enduring, with a style that is personal, layered, and informed."
