About

Emma J Shipley is a British luxury lifestyle brand that brings wonder and magic into the home. Its collections span home accessories such as cushions and lampshades, bed linen, tableware, furnishing fabrics, and wallpapers. Known for imaginative, hand-drawn designs, the brand blends the natural world with myth, folklore, and fantastical storytelling. Many collections draw inspiration from Emma's travels in the wild landscapes of South America, the African savannah, and the Scottish Highlands, where encounters with wildlife and ancient traditions inform every intricate detail.

Celebrating craftsmanship and sustainability, Emma J Shipley designs and produces many of its pieces in the UK - from fine bone china tableware in Stoke-on-Trent to hand-printed wallpapers and fabrics - with meticulous attention to detail at every stage of production.

The brand’s award-winning creations have been stocked in Liberty, Harrods, and internationally, and it has collaborated with names including Disney, Aspinal of London, and Atelier Swarovski. Each design invites dreamers, and nature lovers into a fantastical universe where mythical creatures roam, bold colourways transform interiors, and every piece tells a story.

More than homeware, Emma J Shipley crafts pieces that spark curiosity, and bring a lasting sense of wonder to everyday life.

What is your biggest source of inspiration?

“I’m endlessly inspired by the natural world and wildlife. Travelling to wild landscapes - from the Scottish Highlands to the African savannah and South American jungles - I take in colours, textures, and creatures, and blend them with myth, folklore, and ancient tales. It’s this mix of the real and the imagined that feeds into my illustrations and designs.”

What makes your approach to design different?

“I create new worlds through my mix of influences, both real and imagined. I draw all of my designs by hand in pencil, giving each design its own story and creating layers of detail that feel alive. My designs are maximalist but purposeful - bold, fantastical, and functional - meant to spark curiosity and bring a little magic into everyday life.”

In your opinion, what makes a design timeless?

“A design is timeless when it evokes emotion, tells a story, and is built to last. Quality materials, meticulous craftsmanship, and attention to detail ensure it can be treasured for years, while imagination and meaning give it enduring appeal beyond passing trends.”
