About
Guild Anderson’s mission is to design bespoke kitchens and back-of-house spaces which look as if they were always meant to be there. These are working domestic spaces designed to be used. To be dented, scuffed, and enriched with the hallmarks of daily life. To tell stories. And, after a few years perhaps, given a fresh coat of paint ready for the next generation to enjoy. The team works in country houses of all sizes. Their bespoke kitchen designs take inspiration from the domestic spaces of some of England's most cherished country homes; houses built for a very different way of life.Guild Anderson's goal is to create modern family spaces which respect the architectural heritage of their client’s houses. Achieving the perfect balance between period personality and modern convenience is always at the forefront of their minds. What is your biggest source of inspiration?“Our design inspiration comes from many sources, beautiful National Trust houses offer a real insight as to how estate joinery could honour the houses architectural heritage devoid of flamboyance and excessive frippery. Our aim is to bring this ethos to the forefront of our design.”What makes your approach to design different? When our design team designs, it does so in such a way that the furniture is shaped by the architecture it will be surrounded by. Because the high street brands sell such huge volumes, they have to introduce repetitive detail to simplify their offering, and as such they are unable to manipulate individual designs to blend with the specific architecture of the building. Bespoke detail can't be produced at their scale. Being small, we have the flexibility and ability to do difficult things, and to do things differently.
