About

Other Service Regions: Europe

Maitland & Poate is a family-run business which started when its founder’s obsession for antique encaustic tiles kicked in during the renovation of their own Victorian London home. Determined to repurpose materials and reclaim as much as possible, it was clear that finding authentic vintage tiles was a huge and challenging task in the UK. Nothing they found came close to the quality or designs they wanted, visions instilled from previous Spanish travels. Deciding to return to Spain and search out those antique tiles direct from crumbling cortijo’s, forgotten bodegas and ancient ruined houses, their passion grew for saving rare and unique designs, reclaiming and renovating to share those finds with others.
