About

Socrates Miltiadou and Rupert Cook formalised their partnership at Miltiadou Cook Mitzman in 2020, building upon a long-standing collaboration and friendship that began during their post graduate studies in the early 90’s. Their shared approach to architecture centres on thoughtful material selection and seamlessly integrating innovative technologies into their designs, resulting in intelligent and elegant spaces.

Since formally joining forces, their completed projects have consistently received recognition for design excellence.

Socrates has been practising privately since 2000, specialising in prime residential projects. He has considerable expertise in securing planning approvals within London's conservation areas, enhancing the performance of historic and listed buildings sensitively and effectively.

Rupert brings over 30 years of diverse architectural experience, including a personal passion for self-build projects and boat construction. His deep commitment to sustainability and low-energy solutions is exemplified by his PassivHaus projects, widely recognised in architectural and lifestyle publications.

At MCM, innovation is at the core of everything they do. Constantly exploring new ideas, methods, and technologies, they push boundaries to create smarter, more sustainable design solutions. Their people-first philosophy ensures that every building is elegant, adaptive, and intelligently responsive to its environment. Sustainability isn't an afterthought—it’s embedded in every stage of their design process, driving exceptional environmental performance.

Through meticulous design processes and thoughtful material choices, MCM develops buildings that offer reduced energy costs and adaptability for future needs. They believe true quality encompasses more than mere efficiency—it's about generosity of space, comfort, and enjoyment.

Socrates and Rupert combine creativity, expertise, and practical ingenuity to overcome challenges and craft bespoke solutions, from sophisticated dividing partitions and hidden storage to inventive sliding room dividers and custom furniture. At heart, they are designers dedicated to creating beautiful, functional spaces where people can thrive.
