About

Nkuku works with makers throughout the world supporting and celebrating their skills by bringing their products to a wider audience. Founded in 2003 the name ‘nkuku’ (nuh-ku-ku) was borrowed from a hut in Zambia and the first order was for exquisite leather journals that are still in their collection today. From homewares to textiles and furniture, the company's collections may have grown but it still has the same hands-on approach meeting and working with its suppliers to create timeless pieces for the whole home.

Honouring traditional skills, the team works in collaboration with their makers to craft unique products made from natural, reclaimed and recycled materials. Nkuku celebrates traditional crafts, and the company wants to ensure that age-old traditions are passed on to future generations.

The team believes that trading fairly provides an opportunity to build a future, helping businesses develop and creating sustainable employment. These founding principles are still at the heart of nkuku today and they are proud to be B Corp certified alongside a growing group of companies that are reinventing business by pursuing purpose as well as profit.

For interiors inspiration visit the nkuku Lifestyle Store and Café in Devon; originally a derelict farm, the barns have been transformed into a furniture showroom and lifestyle store which has been thoughtfully designed using natural, reclaimed, and recycled materials. The café leads out to a pretty courtyard, which is partially covered, and provides a relaxing spot to dine alfresco.

With stockists throughout the UK, nkuku also provides a trade programme working with interior designers, architects, high-end hospitality, and landscape designers.

Nkuku's aesthetic is timeless, natural and pared back which is central to the company's interior design philosophy. The team creates consciously designed interiors crafted from natural materials and traditional crafts that bring original character to the home.
