About

Shenouk specialises in hand block printed fabrics for the home, creating beautiful pieces that are as unique as they are timeless. Designs are created in-house with the English home in mind — patterns and colours aimed to effortlessly complement our varied homes. At the heart of all product categories is a focus on quality and distinction driven by a long-held view that the foundation to a beautiful home is the appearance (if not the reality) of treasured pieces collected over time.

While best known for an array of luxury bedding options, ranging from the simple beauty of dohar sheeting to the exquisite craftsmanship of coverlet quilts, Shenouk dabbles across the spectrum of home fabrics. Established categories of lampshades, table linen and vintage kantha have been joined more recently by a range of cushions, an assortment of framed vintage textiles and a developing running fabric offering. Importantly, everything at Shenouk is entirely handmade and we take immense pleasure in the slow process that results in each and every item that forms our collection.

What is your biggest source of inspiration?

“The most influential classroom for design is our collective past. Endless inspiration is found in those magnetic patterns and colour combinations from decades (and centuries) ago spanning the globe -- reimagining them to suit our contemporary world is pure bliss.”

What makes your approach to design different?

“Shenouk has been linked to Indian block print since its start -- the perfect imperfections which create true originality are mesmerising & the inherent support to artisans preserving beautiful hand craft is crucial. Our design niche is reimagining this storied tradition to work seamlessly in our English homes. In-house designs are carefully curated; colours are intentionally soothing.”

In your opinion, what makes a design timeless?

"In design, ‘timeless' can mean different things to different people. I'm a firm believer in collecting over time and embracing variety. As tempting as they may be, fads do fade. Long-lasting design is rooted in quality (there is much to be revered in something well made), joy (the pull of the heart when you wake up in that perfect bed or pass that coveted painting), and independence (just because everyone has a scalloped rug -- doesn't mean a scalloped rug is the right choice). *note: I do love my own scalloped rug."
