Your guide to the incredible real-life locations seen in Bridgerton

Completely obsessed with Netflix’s hit series Bridgerton? Join the not-so-private club. From it's first series, which was released in 2020, its lush costumes and a refreshing take on diversity catapulted this Shonda Rhimes-produced show so far into the zeitgeist that it’s even spawned its own Instagram stan account.
Now the release of the much-awaited third season is imminent, and fans are beginning to swoon over the possibility of yet more salacious scandal, opulent clothing and covetable interiors. If you’re into interiors you’ll have noticed some of the more amazing locations featured in the Julia Quinn adaptation. And if any of these places look familiar, it’s because many were filmed at historic locations around the UK.
Below, we’ve rounded up a few of our favourite and most magnificent Bridgerton locations, for your pure viewing pleasure. Plus, if you’re a real estate nerd, we’ve included data from a Mortgages for Monarchs report by Money.co.uk which even outlines how much some of these epic private estates would be worth in today’s values.
1/23Ranger’s House, Greenwich
Ranger’s House is a longstanding feature of the Bridgerton series, for which it poses as the family home of the Bridgerton's. The Palladian mansion is owned by the conservation charity English Heritage, and can be rented out for weddings or visited by members of the public. With Greenwich Park as a back garden, it's the perfect pitstop during a day out.

The famous wysteria-clad house is seen in countless scenes as guests arrive to the Bridgerton residence. Though the real-life counterpart may offer less wisteria, it’s still highly valuable. Clocking in at a respectable £35,233,027 in real life, the Grade I listed building houses Sir Julius Wernher’s art collection.

This early Georgian family home features in several episodes of Bridgerton. Keen-eyed readers may recognise it's impressive facade and expansive gardens from other silver-screen appearances, such as Emma (2020) and Downton Abbey.
4/23Claydon House, Buckinghamshire
For the first time in the Bridgerton series, Claydon House will feature as one of the quintessentially high-society filming locations. The 18th-century building has seen many renovations and additions over the years, and today it is owned by the National Trust. Elaborate state rooms and over 170 acres of parkland and walled gardens make it the perfect location for a Bridgerton house. When it is not occupied by a camera crew, Claydon House is open to visitors from Thursday-Monday, with tours of the house and garden taking place throughout the day.

The sprawling, 18th-century country house is one of the largest in the country, and viewers may recognise it from Bridgerton's spin-off series, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, when it posed as the home of the reigning Bridgerton Queen. Now a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, the house is privately owned though is often used as a filming locations, most notably in Harry Potter, James Bond's Spectre, Transformers and Mission Impossible.

Royal Crescent, Bath
The ancient Roman city of Bath is famed for many things: the remains of Roman public spaces, the honey-coloured stone used for its buildings, and the Royal Crescent: a semi-circle of houses and hotels set around a patch of grass which overlooks the city. The crescent was built between 1767 and 1774 by John Wood the Younger, and is pleasingly uniform in its neo-classical architecture. The iconic location is used as the exterior of the Featherington House in Bridgerton's third series, where it is posing as London's Grosvenor Square.

This impressive Grade I listed building is owned by the National Trust. It was built between 1776 and 1783 in the Palladian style, when classical features such as columns and a symmetrical facade were often incorporated into such grand properties. Surrounding the house is some 400 acres of parkland and gardens, providing plenty of space for opulent summer parties. It's little wonder the house appears often in series 3 of Bridgerton, acting as the house of a new character: Lady Tilley Arnold played by Hannah New.

According to Tatler, many parts of this huge Hertfordshire estate are a stand-in various scenes in the show is one of the most popular filming locations in the country, having appeared in 70 film and TV series since the ’60s.
Netflix10/23While you may recognise it from Netflix’s The Crown and Rebecca, one particular appearance had actress Nicola Coughlan (Penelope Featherington) in raptures. “We shot at Hatfield House, which was the house that they filmed The Favourite in. I did sneak upstairs because I wanted to see Olivia Colman’s room. I was trying to rub the walls so that her acting talent would rub onto me!”

The 47,000 square metres, Grade 1 listed palace in Richmond is exactly the kind of grand palace that’s the perfect stand in for Queen Charlotte’s residence in Bridgeton. Built in the 1500s, it boasts tennis courts and a kitchen capable of catering for 800 guests.

Nothing but the best will do for the newlywed Duke and Duchess of Hastings, and this real-life castle has the sprawling lawns and Baroque beauty needed to represent the fictional Clyvedon Castle.

Fun fact: the real-life castle took 100 years to build and once boasted its own railway station.

As the setting for Lady Danbury’s home in episode one, you can first spot the gorgeous archways in the house’ entrance in the scene where we’re first introduced to the Duke of Hastings. Valued at £44,534,990 you can also see the beautiful exterior as the guests arrive to the first ball seen in the series (where Daphne and Simon first meet).
