Often heralded as one of the best manufacturers in the world of luxury metal kitchens, it rightly prides itself on its fine Italian craftsmanship and eye for detail. All its kitchens are handcrafted in Florence in diverse colours and finishes, from gunmetal to 24kt gold.

The contemporary appliances produced by Fisher & Paykel are designed to blend with an interior and make cooking, cleaning and entertaining easier. Head to its experience centre on Wigmore Street, WI, to see the range of appliances and companion items, such as warming drawers and coffee machines.

This manufacturer specialises in butler and belfast sinks, a staple of classic English kitchens. It provides handmade designs with various embellishments, such as fluted fronts.

Known for retro appliances, it is also a source of leading design. Among its recent launches is an induction hob with a powerful built-in extractor.
Kasia Fiszer6/38Espresso
Based in London, Espresso has become known for streamlined kitchens with a chic Italian flair. As well as craftsmanship, it is notably strong on experimental finishes, such as metallic lacquer and smoked bronze metal doors, giving cabinets a particularly striking look.

The Italian furniture-maker is known for an innovative approach and chic, contemporary aesthetic. The ‘Shape’ design shown above exemplifies Poliform's approach: it is a super minimal, modular system that features recessed handles for a functional yet sleek effect. It comes in various wood and metal finishes.
Milo Brown8/38Martin Moore
Known for its elegant designs, Martin Moore specialises in the production of made-to-measure kitchens rooted in classic English furniture. Its collections include 'The New Deco' kitchen, which draws inspiration from craftsmanship of the 1930s, and 'The Architectural' collection, which is characterised by long elevations and rows of locker-style units overhead.
9/38Roundhouse
Almost 30 years ago, this British company was founded by architects. While it is associated with pared-back design, its signature looks have a warm feel thanks to an interesting use of materials and a balance of beauty and function.

From classic farmhouse kitchens to sleek, contemporary handle-less schemes, Chamber Furniture has been crafting distinctively different designs for more than 30 years. Every piece is made in its Kent workshop, where skilled craftspeople combine modern techniques with age-old joinery methods.
Simon Brown11/38Quooker
A boiling-water tap is a popular fixture today. Quooker's produce water at 100°C (as well as chilled and sparkling) and come in a variety of finishes.
12/38Sub-Zero & Wolf
At the truly luxurious end of the spectrum, these appliances are designed for - and are used by - amateur and professional chefs. Experts in Shaker-style units – including updated versions of the classic design – Tom Howley has six different ranges.‘Harrington’ is its most pared-back version, which is ideal to achieve a more minimalist aesthetic, while the curved edges of ‘Summerville’ cabinetry introduce a sense of movement. Each kitchen can be painted in one of its 24 nature-inspired colours.

This Swiss brand has its London headquarters on Wigmore Street, W1, where its sleek collections of appliances are showcased in an immersive and inviting space. Though designs are simple, the capabilities on offer are plentiful for discerning cooks - from induction hobs with built-in extractors to vacuum drawers.
15/38Humphrey Munson
With roots in traditional cabinet-making, Humphrey Munson is experienced in both the design and construction of tailor-made joinery for a variety of spaces in the house, including boot rooms and dressing rooms. That being said, it is kitchens that really showcase the studio's meticulous attention to detail from start to finish. Everything is made in-house at the company's Felsted workshop in Essex and can be painted in a range of bespoke colours created in collaboration with the British paint specialist Mylands.

Located on the old RAF base in the North Norfolk countryside, Naked produces solid kitchens that do not cost the earth. It has an extensive list of style options - from a painted Shaker to the minimalist J-Groove-handled design. It also creates bespoke additions, such as clever storage solutions or even a personalised spice rack.

With over 100 UK showrooms, this is a popular choice for good-value kitchens. Its range of styles includes modern, in-frame and traditional, and its online 3D tool will help you to visualise your chosen scheme.

Characterised by smart, linear design, the kitchens created by this forward-thinking German brand can be viewed in 10 stores located across the UK. It has four style collections - ‘Pure’, 'Urban', 'Classic' and ‘Mondial’ - that reflect different lifestyles and settings within a house or apartment. It also offers a fresh spin on combining materials, such as mixing natural stones with polished lacquer.

The pioneering spirit in which this company was founded more than 45 years ago is still evident in its passion for craftsmanship and innovation. This ‘Icarus’ design is a fine example, bringing together ancient cabinet-making skills with exciting state-of-the-art technology.

This Italian brand has become synonymous with fully customisable contemporary designs that are created with international names like Vincent Van Duysen. Molteni&C is also known for its technology expertise, not only in the traditional field of woodworking but in more innovative areas like metals.

Over the past 130 years, luxury German brand Poggenpohl has become one of the leading names in contemporary kitchen design and it now has six showrooms in the UK. It is renowned for cutting-edge yet sophisticated design, such as ‘+Modo’, in which the worktop seems to float above the base units.

Those who are in the market for a contemporary kitchen will find plenty of choice among Krieder's 24 collections, which combine a variety of materials and finishes, including gold oak and marble. As well as kitchens, the company offers solutions for a range of interiors - from bedroom storage to bathrooms.
DEVOL24/38DeVol
Associated with quintessentially English kitchens crafted using locally sourced timber, DeVol continues to manufacture from a workshop in Leicestershire. It has also expanded its offering into sinks, taps, handles, tiles and accessories, and has recently introduced two mid-century-style pendants to its range of handmade lighting.
25/38Sola Kitchens
Founded in London by a Swede, this company has an emphasis on Scandinavian style and high-quality materials. Its kitchens are all handcrafted by teams of skilled makers in Britain and Sweden. While wood is a primary focus, its designs regularly play on interesting combinations of stones and metallics. Sola has three showrooms in London, including a flagship on Wigmore Street, W1.
26/38Boffi
With full kitchens and bathrooms as well as lighting and storage, it is much more than a kitchen brand. Boffi is known for a sleek aesthetic, use of fine materials and technology, and partnerships with designers like Piero Lissoni and Patricia Urquiola.

It might be best known for its Shaker designs, but Harvey Jones has seven styles to suit personal preferences. Each one is made to order at its Cambridgeshire workshop and finished with your own choice of countertop - from wood to quartz.
28/38Herringbone House
Previously known as Herringbone Kitchens, the Canterbury-based Herringbone House now works on a range of interiors projects - hence the change of name. Its custom-made kitchens, all crafted in sustainable wood, include ‘The Westgate’, a fresh take on Shaker design.
Alexander James29/38Bulthaup
The owners of this Arts & Craft house in west London built a new extension to house a modern kitchen that would still flow and work with the rest of the house. Working with interior designer Nicola Hicks, they used Bulthaup b3 laminate cabinets which they liked for the neutral, timeless tones paired with traditional flagstones on the floor which continued from an adjacent dining space and worked with the rest of the house. A natural olivewood bar top softens the feel of the space while Gaggenau and Sub-Zero appliances are used for this busy family home. Bulthaup laminate kitchens cost from £45,000.

Influenced by Georgian estate kitchens, this cabinetmaker has married traditionally crafted joinery with a modern sensibility for over 30 years. Its designs also include larders, boot rooms and laundry rooms, and all cabinetry is made in its Suffolk workshops. In addition to its flagship store on the Pimlico Road, SWI, it has showrooms in New York and Los Angeles.
31/38Inglis Hall
A dedication to craftsmanship means that Inglis Hall focuses on making just a limited number of kitchens every year from its Sussex workshop, using locally sourced materials. Its signature is band-sawn oak, which takes various forms, including raw as well as blackened.
32/38Ledbury Studio
This company is recognised for its novel use of materials, be it wood, metal or stone. Founder Charlie Smallbone has a small but engaged and knowledgeable team, who are on hand to provide a refreshingly personal service from Ledbury Studio's showroom in west London.
33/38Neptune
This Wiltshire-based company takes its design cues from timeless pieces of antique furniture and natural materials. Alongside its built-in kitchen collections, which are made from solid timber and have a lifetime guarantee, it has also launched a new range of freestanding kitchen furniture and accessories.
Christopher Horwood34/38Pluck
Though its characteristic style might be pared back, Pluck is not short of boldness when it comes to its appealing colour options. These are applied to cabinets made in birch plywood in the company's London studio and workshop. A recent collaboration with the timber specialist Schotten & Hansen has resulted in naturally coloured Douglas Fir veneer finishes.

Outdoor kitchens are increasingly popular in the UK and Cena can design one to suit your space. This garden kitchen in Fulham has aluminium powder-coated cladding and concrete worktops to withstand all weathers. A similar design would cost from £17,000.
