Frequently asked questions
What is the best Christmas tree to buy in the Black Friday sales?
The best Christmas tree deal in terms of savings we've seen so far is the Balsam Hill Noble Fir Christmas Tree. Normally £1,599, the 7ft pre-lit tree has been reduced by a massive £950, to £649. Balsam Hill are a failsafe brand when it comes to good looking, bushy artificial Christmas trees.
£649 is still a little expensive for many people, however, so for a more affordable choice - and one of our tried and tested favourites - we'd choose The White Company's 6ft Grand Spruce.
What is Cyber Monday?
The largest shopping event of the year began in the US, when Christmas shopping saw a post Thanksgiving spike. Since then, we've imported our own version of the weekend, with UK retailers slashing prices and creating bundle deals that ease the strain on your purse strings at Christmas. Cyber Monday tends to be the last day of the sales, traditionally with a focus on tech deals, though some retailers are extending them to Wednesday.
When is Cyber Monday?
This year, Black Friday falls on Friday 28th November, with discounts and deals rolling over to the following week, known as Cyber Week. Cyber Monday lands on 1st December. Friday and Monday are the two best days to snap up deals, so bookmark the 28th November and 1st December now.
When do Cyber Monday tree sales start?
We're now at the tail end of Black Friday weekend, and the deals are still live, but hurry as many will be ending at midnight tonight. While some of our favourite Christmas retailers, like The White Company, only dropped their prices the week before or week of Black Friday, others, such as John Lewis and Balsam Hill, started to reduce their trees or are offering bundle deals weeks ago. M&S is one retailer that we haven't seen any tree deals from.
Real Christmas trees vs artificial trees with Cyber Monday prices
The price of a real Christmas tree varies depending on the tree variety, where you source it, potential delivery costs and of course its size. For trees of 6ft and above, average costs start at around £50, to over £200 for the largest sizes. The more luxurious, realistic artificial trees, on the other hand, will likely set you back more than £200. However, spread that cost over several years and it will always work out more affordable than buying a single use, real tree year after year. Some of the budget tree options from shops like Very are available for less than £100 for Black Friday and Cyber Monday, so these are a good choice if you're hoping to cut costs over the festive period, and still be able to reuse your tree for future Christmases.
